By Jila777
What Is MICR toner?
MICR toner or Magnetic Ink Character Recognition toner is a special ink toner containing ink made with iron oxide. MICR toner is used specifically for printing checks. Banks require the use of this special MICR toner to be used in printing the bank routing numbers, the bank account number and check numbers. The banking numbers are also in a special typeface font.
The use of MICR toner is required in check processing to assure that the ink can be read and processed correctly. During the process, the routing and bank numbers are charged with a magnetic pulse. Then special readers or scanners read the data which produces a waveform that is easily read by the special bank equipment even if the numbers have marks, ink or other writing on top of them.
